Half Way There | The year so far at Bensons Panels

A Healthy Order Book

Since the start of April, we have been strategic in our approach to secure a good mix of orders across the different sectors in which we work. Through our efforts, we are 20% up on this time last year and on plan to achieve our target revenue for the year. This will see a sizeable increase in turnover compared to last year.

New Sectors

Part of the growth that we are seeing is as a result of successfully entering new sectors, in particular the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure market. So far, we have delivered distribution boards for charging sites around Yorkshire, complemented by many control panels deployed at charging sites around the UK to evaluate their performance.

In addition to servicing the electric vehicle charging industry, we are in the midst of delivering a large suite of control panels for a major data centre development in London.

Alongside these new ventures, we continue to provide a high-level of service to existing and an increasing number of new clients in the HVAC, distributed energy and Leisure sectors.

New Processes

The new sectors that we have entered have required us to step up to the next level in lean manufacturing, exploiting the capabilities developed in 2022 with the help of local manufacturing experts Fluere. We have utilised the skills honed in the design and manufacture of bespoke control panels to establish a highly effective, cellular manufacturing approach, offering rapid throughput alongside our customary high-level of quality of finished control panels.

Supporting our Customers Nationally and Internationally

We take great pride in providing our customers with aftersales support. Through continued investment in the training and development of our team, we have doubled the number of site engineers. Since July this has meant that we have been able to carry out system up-grades and modifications across the UK and also into Germany.

Working Sustainably

As a forward thinking manufacturer it is important to the team at Bensons that we continue to challenge ourselves in terms of how we operate. Part of this is our journey to becoming initially a carbon neutral business, then in time how we become a net zero business. To complement a range of measures already taken, in May of this year we turned on our 41kWhr array of solar panels. Since then we have generated over 20MwHrs of electricity, of which around 65% has been used on site. This equates to ca. 4,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions that have been saved.

Alongside this, we have continued to invest in our team for the future, welcoming Dan, Claire, Alan and Kirsty to the team.

Collectively, we are looking forward to completing the financial year and heading on towards achieving our long term goals for Bensons.
