The Solution
Experienced engineers, fully engaged in a collaborative
and parallel working approach
for a timely result.
Building on a strong working relationship established on
previous projects, Bensons was quickly able to evaluate
the requirements and pull together a proposal to build
the control panel in line with the project timescales.
A control panel handover date of Christmas was agreed,
another immoveable date which no-one at Bensons
wanted to miss, in order to support their customer to
secure the project. Immediately following approval of the
project, Bensons was able to commence the
procurement of components necessary to start the build
of the control panel in line with the agreed plan.
A kick-off meeting was held between the EES project
team and the Bensons team who would be building the
control panel, to ensure that requirements were clear
and any questions resolved quickly and effectively.
Due to the design of the control panel, Bensons was able
to fully utilise our sizeable and highly skilled workforce to
have several, experienced engineers working
productively on the panel together. This parallel working
approach saved significant amounts of end to end
production time
Regular reviews throughout the build were carried out.
By adopting a collaborative approach between EES and
Bensons, it was possible to quickly resolve any issues
encountered during manufacture and test.
Bensons was then able to make our customer acceptance
area available to EES, initially for their own extensive
schedule of internal testing and subsequently for a
successful Factory Acceptance Test with the end client.
The Result
A control panel achieving ABS Certification for deployment offshore.
Bensons was able to respond quickly to the opportunity presented by EES, as part of this we were
able to commit to achieving aggressive timescales on a strategically important project for EES.
The control panel was built, tested and available to EES to commence their software integration and
testing ahead of the Christmas handover milestone.
The control panel achieved American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) certification, this was a first for EES
and for Bensons. The finished and tested control panel was handed over to the end customer on time,
allowing it to be initially installed on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in
the Middle East, prior to deployment on an oil field off the coast of Brazil for at least 15 years.
